- Criticism is a form of recognition…better than being ignored
- Micro managing has only produced incapable work force or nervous work outputs
- Power is often sought by people who do not know how to work or are too lazy to work
- In their hurry to overtake others in the race to higher positions, some may miss noticing what gains have accrued to the other person
- Delegation of work has two problems a) no one to delegate to with sufficient ability to do the work b) never has any one worked to your satisfaction
- There is more of “ I did this” rather than “ you did this…thank you” in this world

- Pilfering ideas is easy…but can they be put to best possible use?
- Talent, commitment and work ethics ensure security…how many in real world pursue all three?

- We seem to work hard towards getting prefixes and suffixes, forgetting to hone the skills of the person sandwiched between these two! After all, this is the person who will be remembered fondly or in disgust after retirement
- Ambition often appears like desperation…it gives the person away
- There can be nothing unhappier than sitting in one position, but constantly looking up to the next higher one!
- There is no greater fear than the fear of the next person’s chances of overtaking you
- Reputation is created when others want you in a higher position, not when you hanker after it

- Good work rarely goes unnoticed… you will be rewarded with more work
- An occupation demands two things a) doing the day to day work effectively b) building career by adding work that suits that goal. Failure in any one of these, makes for unhappy work life

- If everyone wants to be supervising the work, then who will actually do it?
- Some unfortunate workers are always sounding boards for the boss, while the real culprits escape censure
- If chasing dreams involved chasing away people…what are you for?
- Delegate…delegate… delegate …in your anxiety to avoid work, beware who you are delegating the work to…it may boomerang on you
- Convenient amnesia is a great tool in a work place
- Preventing someone from working is often a bigger strategy than handing over work
- Mimicking the superior is the time tested strategy which has often failed to produce the necessary results
- We fail to realise that rather than wasting time and effort in spying on others, we could actually work on our skills
- Seeking feedback is a tough proposition…if you are appreciated, someone higher up will be upset; if you are criticised, you will be upset!
- People fail to realise that position of authority is a misnomer…on retirement, everyone is placed in the same bracket
- Your ranking with your family is much more valuable than your ranking with your workplace inmates
- When you take on great responsibility at work, people fail to realise that you might be shielding the incompetent lot behind you

- Predecessors are always wrong, incompetent and irresponsible
- Only after getting off from work life will we ever realise the volume of missed opportunities
People at work place and their nature and attitudes rightly dipicted.
I practise some of the points like discouraging spying on others, managing thru and with people, allowing others to fail etc so that they learn.

NARA
Very true compiled facts. Many of points are hardcore workplace truth. It is said that “if you want to get your work done, give it to a busy person”. He may crib but he cultivated habit of finishing any work assigned to him. Lazy persons are always busy with their lazyness. It is also very true that many of top positions have no idea about the job nor they can give any suggestion/guidance on the task assigned. Only pathway for them is to order ‘sternly’ to the subordinate and try to get it done without any inputs from his side. We more or less find Bosses only and no Leaders.
All the richness and frailties of human behavior are in full display at a workplace. As a participant in any role one plays – be it as a statistic in the countless population of employees or as a bully exercising power over hapless individuals, human insecurities drive actions. The clever individual manipulates these behaviors towards a selfish goal or as a force for good. Your list is an illuminating window into some of the traits and actions on this stage.
