Being positive – Tips for being positive
This is a tough one, though forever you are bombarded with messages on this through Whats App, Facebook etc.
Do not be in the illusion that you are a positive person, all around you, peoples’ reaction towards you will tell you the truth.
Certain cardinal rules will make you become positive. Tips for being positive
- Love yourself
- Don’t envy anyone
- Do your work, do not delegate
- Be punctual at every task in your life
- Do not procrastinate
- Spruce up skills in all kinds of work you have to do, don’t be sloppy
- Keep things around you in an organised manner, clean, neat and sparkling
- Have goals that are possible to achieve
- Don’t while away time
- Buy things you are sure you will use
- Give away generously those that you don’t use
- In a tough situation, think of the worst that can happen
- Use your forethought ability to the full
- When angry and frustrated, do not seek companionship of others, but write out your feelings
- Trust others; go with the assumption that people are good
- But mentally be prepared for shocks; think ahead on every situation
- Even if you do not forgive, its okay, but try to forget
- Live by your own resources, do not become a parasite on others
- Every day do at least one thing that makes you happy
- Keep at least one hour in a day for yourself
- Shut of television, cell phone and internet for at least two hours in a day
- Dress well, not for others, but for yourself
- Move on in life, do not keep harping on past events
- Talk in a soft and nice manner even if you are giving instructions to a subordinate
- Don’t compare your life with that of anybody else, no two people have similar lives
- Don’t hoard things, the irony of life is that things will not be there for you when you need them, even the hoarded ones
- Self-interest is fine, but do not confuse it with selfishness
- Be open minded enough to accept criticism and take praise with the pinch of salt
- Be fair to all
- Don’t be judgemental, you have no idea what the life of the other person is
- Offer criticism in a polite manner, important to get the message across and not push your dominant personality across
- Advice only when asked, don’t give free advice
- Listen more and talk less.
- See the ridiculous side of life; every situation that we experience on routine basis in the day – to- day life has a funny side to it, recognise that and smile/ laugh it off
- Don’t talk about yourself or your plans, do them and then show to the world
- Remember important days in the life of your close associates, family and friends and wish them
- Never go anywhere when invited without an appropriate gift
- Do not count the number of times you have done someone a favour and they have not reciprocated. Reciprocation for your good deeds comes back in another form
- Help others, whenever, wherever you can
- Do not grumble…mumble or curse life, this is what the almighty gave us…and has left us to make the best out of it
- The less you talk about yourself, the more you will be appreciated
- See positive first in all, then look for the negative in everything
- Don’t keep reminding people they owe you this or that; they will remember if it is important
- Do not take away another’s freedom, just like you don’t want them to do to you
- Every day do some introspection, periodically truthfully answer this question “who am I?”
- Take risks, nothing is achieved without a certain amount of risk
- Every situation has multiple angles, try to reason in all angles
- If you have to, kindly say NO clearly
- Understand the other person’s abilities before delegating work
- Be smart in leveraging talents of others
- Behave in a manner that others would love to emulate
This list could include a lot more. Felt like stopping here since I had to take a deep breath.
If you get going on at least one fourth of these ideas, you are on a path to being positive eventually. Tips for being positive
Mam,
A tough task indeed. But your check points make it so easy to achieve the positive state.
Some of the points are damn hard to practice! But very thought provoking.
Sirisha,
the idea here is to recognise these first. we may have to spend a lifetime to actually learn to follow them.
some of the listed items are followed by us voluntarily or involuntarily…but everyone has a different life…so each one follows what she or he wants in her or his life…that is the charm of life…your life is different from my life…likewise everyone…I liked the list…
Yes Sir,
Not all apply to all of us. Some may be relevant and not others.
Very true and idealistic. If one can follow at least 10% of the list it will be an achievement, to start with.
Thank you Manu. very true too, following these is not easy
Truly inspiring points. We may be following a few while we might have to consciously work on some others. Nonetheless, this can serve as a benchmark to find positivity in oneself.
Thank you Prashanti, idea is to get people to focus on those that are feasible
Nice article which will make anyone recollect the points to know for themselves where they stand and also how they can improve with some effort! (though a little difficult but definitely can achieve)!
